Sleeping Kids are Good for Romance!

With Valentine's Day just over the horizon, I'm sure you're interested in ways
to get your little ones sleeping peacefully all night long…

Am I right?

Well, Feng Shui isn't a miracle cure for restless nights, but by putting these enhancements in place, you have a much better chance at romance.

As much of a child's physical growth takes place while they are asleep, their bedroom is a very important place.  Décor plays a big part in energy flow. We all sleep best in a serene, free flowing atmosphere and a bedroom with too much stimulating stuff can be the causes erratic energy and fitful sleep.
continued below...
Blasting bright, stimulating YANG colours like RED, LEMON YELLOW and HOT PINK should be avoided in children's rooms! They might look fun and kid-like, but when it comes to rest and relaxation they're going to stir your kids up rather than calm them down.  Choose pastel colours for walls and furniture and accent with fun bright coloured items that don't overpower the room.

Clutter isn't good for anything. It causes confusion when we're awake and sleeping in it can literally cause nightmares!  When children fall asleep in a chaotic atmosphere and wake to the same mental over-stimulation day after day, their minds begin crying out in obvious distress.  When the bedroom is also the playroom, install toy boxes and make tidying up a fun part of their bedtime ritual.  Start them young by putting all their playmates to sleep for the night. This also promotes respect for their belongings.  If you can convince a teenager to clean up their room before bedtime, within two weeks you'll notice they're waking up happier.

Kids' beds should never be flat on the floor.  For the best night's sleep, energy should be able to circulate completely around the bed, so avoid storing stuff underneath.  If your child has a bed with storage drawers, keep extra sheet or clothing in them.  Toys and hobby items are too stimulating to sleep on top of!  And when it comes to sheets, no ningas, fire trucks, sports teams or any other high-energy activities.  Every try sleeping at a football game??

Large mirrors are way too stimulating for kids.  They bounce energy around and can be the cause of night scares if they wake up and see their own movement reflected in a dark room.  Try putting up semi-shear curtains in front of mirrored closets and your kids will definitely be more content overnight.

TV's, radios, computers and other electronic devices are stimulating devices even when turned off so they're not recommended for your kids' room either.  If they really need to be there, a cabinet with doors that close tight for night is highly advisable. If you can't close them in, cover them up!

Of course the best Feng Shui for our kids is providing encouraging balance in all aspects of their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual lives.  A peaceful environment with positive loving role models, promote the best sleep of all!

Happy Valentine's Day!
