YIN is considered Feminine energy.  YIN expresses itself through quiet and stillness.  It is slow movements like those used in the martial art form Tai Chi. YIN is the prevalent energy for a relaxed and restful sleep.  It is a passive force.

On the opposite side is Masculine YANG energy.  YANG expression is active, creative, involved and vigorous.  Sports, dance and other lively physical activities are considered to be YANG.

In Nature YIN and YANG compliment each other and the flow of everything depends on this graceful interaction of opposite forces.  To achieve this balance the interaction of YIN and YANG energy is constantly changing.

Because we are part of the nature world as human beings we are most comfortable when the flow of energies through our lives mimics the balance of what we see in Nature.

If you're feeling rushed, overwhelmed, down or uncomfortable in any area of your life it may be time to take stock of your own YIN and YANG balance.

1) Examine the darks and lights in your colour schemes.
2) Ask yourself if you're getting equal amounts of rest and activity.
3) Observe your thoughts for areas where negativity is overwhelming the positive light of your Divinity.

Looking at the world through Feng Shui eyes can help bring a gentle flowing balance back into your world.

Enjoy Your Pet Plants

Plants are a fabulous Feng Shui enhancement and we have a house full of them.
They play a vital role in our indoor environment.  Not only are the fabulously energizers for any room they are also Mother Nature's air purifiers as they take in carbon dioxide and provide life nurturing oxygen in return.

When considering plants for your home it is important that they are aesthetically pleasing however this is not the first criteria to consider.  It is essential to do a survey of how much natural light occurs in each room. Environment and proper care are key so they must be given a space where they will thrive and not be forgotten.

continued below...

If a plant's leaves wilt or turn yellow it's a sure sign it's not in the right spot. Make sure they are clear of heat from appliances or icy air from air conditioning vents.  Unless you have a very large home, it is best to keep them on the periphery of the space so they won't get bumped or bruised by physical activity.  They should never block pathways from room to room.

We live in a small environment with heavy overhead beams so we have wonderful built in shelving for our plants.  As the weighty energy of beams can be oppressive, we've wrapped the beams with beautiful vines to help uplift the energy.  Trailing plants are also very helpful for softening cabinet corners, which can become poison arrows in our environment.

When deciding where to place plants, consider the shape of their leaves and the symbolism that goes with the shape. For example, place plants with heart shaped leaves in the Relationship, Love & Marriage gua and plants with shiny, round coin shaped leaves in the Wealth, Abundance and Prosperity gua.  Avoid putting spiky plants and cactus in bedrooms or in the Relationships area.  These shapes are better in places where we need mental stimulation like offices or family rooms.

Most of all sickly, dried-out or over-moist plants are never good Feng Shui so always keep the plants in your environment healthy and well nourished. Maybe start thinking about them like pets. They may not need the same love and attention but if they come into our lives they deserve the same care and respect.
